INTERNSHIP AT ST. LUKE’S ZION:
We were introduced to Intern Lisa Janke and part time internship at St Luke's Zion late last August (2015). During the ten-month internship period, Lisa has gotten to know our congregation by participating in our worship liturgy, taking part in Bible Studies, being involved in youth ministry and Sunday School, making hospital visits, and other activities.
In return, we have gotten to know Lisa through conversation, hearing her children's messages, learning from her Intern Minutes, or listening to her timely sermons. She has been a blessing among us both as a teacher and learner.
In her introduction interview (Newsletter September 2015); Lisa acknowledged the time in Synod Youth Ministry and with us in Parish Ministry would be a period of "sheltered trying." And we have seen her progress all the way to leading worship in the absence of our own Pastor Lynne.
As her Internship Committee, we have enjoyed our meetings with Lisa and learning about the evaluation process required by the Seminary. We are pleased to have seen ample evidence to recommend her for pastoral ministry!

WORSHIP IN THE PARK – AUGUST 7th, 2016
On Sunday, August 7th, we will join together with Abundant Life and Sherwood Park Lutheran Churches in order to bless and send our youth to CLAY 2016 in Charlottetown, PEI. Instead of gathering at our own churches, we will worship together at 12:30 pm at Kildonan Park. A map will be provided so you know where to go! A barbecue will follow the worship service.
For this particular Sunday, help will be needed on a number of different fronts. We need somebody with a truck to transport the BBQ from St. Luke’s Zion to the park. We may need some “shuttle drivers” to pick people up at the parking lots in the park and bring them to our worship location. We will need one or two people to look after the offering for SLZ. And some people might be asked to bring food, as well. If you are able and willing to help with any of these things, please let Pastor Lynne know! Also, there will be some games for children, so don’t hesitate to bring all ages!

MNO SYNOD
Planning is underway for the 2017 Cameroon Companions: YET (Youth Engagement Trip) with co-leaders Caroline Wintoniw and Pastor Michael Kurtz. Do you know someone between the ages of 16-25 who might be interested in a cross-cultural experience and is mature, responsible, and able to deal well with changing environments and willing to step out of their comfort zone?
This is what we need from you:
1) Share this website: http://cameroonyet.weebly.com (or the attached document) with youth and young adults aged 16-25 in your congregation.
2) Collect contact information for those interested (email address and cell phone number) and send it to Larry Ulrich: lulrich@elcic.ca by September 1, 2016.

Mission Trip 2016 - August 26th – 30th
We have a unique opportunity to serve the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon.
The seminary is in need of a "spruce up", as well as an opportunity to share its ministry
with MNO Synod, one of its owners. We are looking for workers (youth and adults alike)
who would be willing to journey with us to Saskatoon for a few days at the end of August.
If you have a passion for painting and light maintenance, let's take the journey together.
Join Bishop Elaine and others for a few days to make a difference.
A registration form will be available on the synod website soon.
